Venue of the Conference

25th International Congress on Snow Sports Trauma and Safety and 38th Congress of the International Society for Snowsports Medicine (ISSS2024) will take place in-person from 10 March till 16 March 2024 in Ramada Resort (ex hotel Larix) in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia.


The Congress is scheduled to commence on Sunday (March 10th) at 18:00 with a plenary session and will be followed by the opening ceremony at 19:00. On Friday (March 15th), the Congress will conclude with a closing ceremony and a gala dinner, both of which are set to begin at 19:00.

How to reach Kranjska Gora

Despite being surrounded by the mighty mountain ranges of the Karavanke and Julian Alps, the Upper Sava Valley is very accessible.

Within half an hour’s drive, you can reach a motorway in Italy (Tarvisio), Austria (Villach) or Slovenia (Karavanke Tunnel). The railways are close by, and Ljubljana Airport is less than an hour’s drive away.

By Air

Kranjska Gora is a 45-minute drive (66 km) from Ljubljana Airport, just 40 minutes from Klagenfurt Airport (Austria) and an hour’s drive from Trieste Airport (Italy). Kranjska Gora can be also reached in two and a half hours from Salzburg, Venice and Zagreb airports. 


By Car

From Slovenia, Kranjska Gora can be reached via the Ljubljana-Kranj-Jesenice-Kranjska Gora road, from Austria via the Korensko sedlo border crossing in Villach or the Karavanke tunnel, and from Italy via the Rateče border crossing.


IMPORTANT! 

Motorcycles, passenger cars (rent-a-cars included) and vehicles with a maximum permissible weight not exceeding 3.5 tonnes must, in order to drive on all Slovenian motorways and expressways operated and maintained by the toll road operator, be equipped with a E-VIGNETTE (E-VINJETA).

BY BUS

From Slovenia, you can reach Kranjska Gora via the Ljubljana-Kranj-Jesenice-Kranjska Gora road.

By Train

The nearest train station is in Jesenice, from where buses take you to Kranjska Gora, 20 km away, in half an hour. There are also train stations in Tarvisio, Italy, and Villach, Austria. From there, you can continue your journey by taxi, as none of the stops is more than 20 km away.

    Kranjska Gora has a mild climate. Average day temperature in Kranjska Gora in March is 4 °C (39 °F), while the night temperature can fall to -5 °C (23 °F). The average number of rainy days in March is 9 days, while the average rainfall amount is 105 mm (4.12 in).

  • LANGUAGE

    The official language in Slovenia is Slovenian. A large number of inhabitants also speak English, German or Italian.

  • CURRENCY

    National currency is Euro (€). 


    Credit cards as Mastercard, Eurocard, VISA, Diners Club and American Express as well as other cards are widely accepted in shops, hotels and restaurants.

    Electricity Electrical current is 220 volts, 50Hz. Round two-pin attachment plugs are most common.

    We recommend you to obtain insurance before travelling to Slovenia. 


    You may also submit a certificate of the insurance company that will cover your insurance in the Republic of Slovenia (contact ASSISTANCE CORIS, 24h info - phone: +386 1 5192020). 


    In Slovenia there are state, non-profit making and private hospitals and medical centres. If you need to go to hospital, your health insurance should cover the costs. Pharmacies in Slovenia are marked ‘’Lekarna’’ and are usually open from 7 am to 7 pm from Monday to Friday, and from 7 am to 1 pm on Saturdays.
