  • VEIT SENNER

    Veit SENNER is associate professor at Technical University of Munich (TUM), School of Engineering and Design. He holds an academic degree in mechanical engineering and a second one in sport science. In 2001 he received his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering (Dr.-Ing.). 2002 he has been appointed as associated professor at TUM, heading since then the professorship for Sport Equipment and Materials.  


    Senner’s research focuses on biomechanics, athlete equipment interaction, personal protection gear and wearables. 


    He has supervised 20 dissertations and has published more than 100 articles in national and international journals as first and as co-author (97 listed in scopus). His actual h-index is 13.

  • JÖRG SPÖRRI

    Prof. Dr. Jörg Spörri currently works as Head of Sports Medical Research at Balgrist University Hospital (Department of Orthopaedics, University of Zurich). He and his research group are particularly focusing on protecting the health of elite athletes and developing cutting-edge diagnostic and rehabilitation concepts in sports medicine.

     

    Jörg Spörri has a methodological background in epidemiology, performance diagnostics, sports biomechanics and musculoskeletal imaging, as well as many years of experience as an athlete/coach, in the management of translational research projects and in university teaching/coach education. More recently, he has chaired several consensus initiatives of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) in the field of injury prevention and return-to-sport.

  • MATTHIAS GILGIEN

    Origin

    Matthias has grown up in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland, 15 Minutes from Adelboden (where the WC GS race is held)

    But instead of becoming a skier he was member of the Swiss National Team in Orienteering for 10 years and was later also national team coach for Norway in orienteering before he went into skiing science.

    Education

    Matthias took education first in land surveying / geomatics and later in Sport Science with a minor in Physics and a PhD in sport technology

    Positions

    He has now been working in snow sport science for 15 years both on the injury prevention side and the performance side.

    The first position was at the Snow and Avalanche Research Institute SLF in Davos, Switzerland

    For the last 10 years he is mainly living in Norway working for the

Professor of Sports Science/Physiotherapy

Luleå University of Technology, Sweden

  • HANS-CHRISTER HOLMBERG

    H-C Holmberg, a Professor of Sports Science/Physiotherapy at the Luleå University of Technology in Sweden, is also affiliated with Karolinska Institutet and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.  Holmberg founded the Swedish Winter Sports Research Centre in 2006 and acted as its director until 2015. He also served as Director of Research and  Development for the Swedish Olympic Committee from 2005-2022. His research focuses primarily on elite sport, integrating physiological and biomechanical characterization to elucidate mechanisms and improve performance. 



Director of the

Science and Research Center of Koper (SRC),  Slovenia

  • RADO PISOT

    Prof. Rado Pišot, PhD, is the director of the Science and Research Center of Koper - Slovenia (SRC). His scientific research is conducted within the framework of the Institute for Kinesiology research, SRC. His priority research areas include the study of motor development and motor learning, as well as diagnostics and research of skeletal muscle adaptability to various environments and life characteristics. His research has been published in numerous internationally renowned journals (150 scientific papers; 3070 citations). He coordinates (PI) and collaborates in several international projects and has been invited as a visiting professor to many universities and international conferences worldwide. He is editor-in-chief and member of editorial boards of several international scientific journals. He was the initiator and president of the organizing committee of international congresses "Child in Motion" (2000 - 2021) and president of the scientific committee of SPE BALKAN SKI congresses (2017 - 2020). He has received awards for his research at the national and international level. He is the author and co-author of numerous scientific monographs, manuals and textbooks on alpine skiing in several world languages. He has presented his research and professional achievements in the field of snow sports at international congresses and meetings: ICSS, Sankt Christoph Arlberg, 2007, 2010, 2013, Interski Sant Anton 2011, Interski Ushuaia 2015, IVSI, Hakuba, 2018; Interski Pamporovo 2019, PSIA, USA, SLC, 2002, Denver, 2008, Park City, 2010, SLC, 2018.


    He is an avid skier and ski instructor, ISIA licensed (1992-) and MOU - CTT - European Common Training Test for Ski Instructors (CTT) (2010-). He is an alpine examiner and a member of the Executive board of SITAS Ski Instructors and Trainer Association of Slovenia (1998-). Since 2014 he is a member of the Expert Council of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia and a member of the International Commission of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), Slovenia (1918-). Since 2019, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the IAESS/IVSS - International Association of Education and Science in Snowsports. Prof. Pisot was PI of the international Erasmus+ project SKIEASY (2020 - 2023).


Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon

Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at

Faculty of Medicine of University of Ljubljana, Slovenia

  • MATEJ DROBNIC

    Dr. Matej Drobnič is a full professor and head of Chair of Orthopedics at the Faculty of

    Medicine of University of Ljubljana and a consultant orthopedic surgeon in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the College Hospital of University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Slovenia.

    He specializes in arthroscopy, sports traumatology and reconstructive surgery of the knee and foot/ankle. He is dedicated to research and new applications of cartilage repair and tissue engineering. His academic work has resulted in over 200 publications and more than

    90 lectures. He is currently President of the Slovenian Society for Cell and Tissue

    Engineering and an active member of numerous international societies for regenerative

    orthopedics and sports medicine. He has been a member of the editorial board of the

    American Journal of Sports Medicine for over ten years. As a former national basketball

    player, his commitment to sports is also reflected in his professional career as a team doctor

    for soccer, gymnastics and ski jumping.
